The Previous IID The New IID (formerly IRI-CT)
1990 Oct:IID begins as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nissan Motors. It is a design management & consulting company with a foundation in marketing research. 1990
1993 Jul:To conduct research in the United States, Interface in Design is established there as a corporation. 1993
1996 May:To create an infrastructure for research, Research Network is established as a corporation in Japan. 1996
1997 IID’s Internet Research division is created. 1997
1999 The Usability Consulting division is established.
Jul: A merger is concluded with Fina Research, a company specializing in large-scale quantitative research.

2000 2000 Apr:On the 28th, IRI Commerce & Technology (IRI-CT) is established as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Internet Research Institute Inc. with 100 million yen in capital.
Dec:The rights to broadband news site RBB TODAY are acquired from Point Five Communications Ltd. and oversight begins.
2001 Nov:IID becomes independent from Nissan through a management buyout. 2001 Jun:IRI-CT headquarters is relocated to Nishi-Shinjuku in Tokyo, along with the parent company.
2002 2002 Oct:A change of management takes place. Hiroshi Fujiwara becomes Chairman of the Board of Directors. Hiroshi Miyakawa becomes President and CEO. Daizo Kugi and Masahiko Nakajima become Directors.
Nov: The rights to automotive news site Auto ASCII are acquired from Media Leaves Inc. (formerly ASCII Corporation), and oversight of operations begins.
2003 2003 Apr:New shares of IRI-CT stock worth 90 million yen are allocated to IRI-CT executives. Capital is increased to 190 million yen. Management hold 47.4%.
Oct:Automotive news site Auto ASCII is renamed Response.
2004 Apr:To strengthen IID’s core business, a merger is concluded with Research Network, Inc
May:Business partnerships establitshed with several major US internet research firms.
Jun:InterfaceASIA begins, a service that conducts research on Asian countries for clients in Western countries, strengthening global integrated consulting services.
2004 May:New shares of IRI-CT stock are allocated to Sumitomo Corporation (20 million capital increase, 20 million capital reserve). Capital becomes 210 million yen. Sumitomo Corporation holds 9.5% of IRI-CT.
Aug:New shares of IRI-CT stock are allocated to Internet Research Institute Inc. (80 million capital increase, 80 million capital reserve). Capital becomes 290 million yen. Internet Research Institute Inc. holds 62.1% of IRI-CT.
2005 Aug:New shares of IID stock are allocated to IRI-CT. 2005 Sep:New shares of IRI-CT stock are allocated to Internet Research Institute Inc. and others (350.25 million capital increase, 350.25 million capital reserve). Capital becomes 595.025 million yen. Internet Research Institute Inc. holds 77% of IRI-CT.
Sep:Through an allocation of new shares by IID, IID becomes a subsidiary of IRI-CT. IRI-CT holds 67.8% of IID.
Oct:Synergy System Solutions is acquired. The goal is increasing profits by securing system engineers to do work in-house that was previously outsourced.
Nov:Through an allocation of new shares by cbook24.com Inc., cbook24.com Inc. becomes a subsidiary of IRI-CT. IRI-CT holds 54.3% of cbook24.com Inc.
2006 2006 May:The funboo of Digiturbo Co.,LTD. is acquired, giving IRI-CT the Play Toys mobile phone carrier web site, and oversight of operations begins.
Aug:IRI-CT assumes management of monoONLINE, the online store of Mono Magazine, published by World Photo Press Co.,LTD. Oversight of operations begins.
Oct:The rights are acquired to Marble, an E-commerce ASP business, from Improve Technologies Inc., and oversight of operations begins.
2007 Jul:Through an exchange of shares, IID becomes a wholly-owned subsidiary of IRI-CT. 2007 Mar:The rights to the independently run gaming news site iNSIDE are acquired, and oversight of operations begins.
2009 2009 Jan:Operations of the gaming news site Game*SPARK are transferred to IRI-CT.
Jun:Headquarters is relocated to Nakano in Tokyo.
2010 2010 May:The Mono Magazine official online store is closed. It’s retail store operation is transferred to Mono Sapience Inc.
Jun:IRI-CT merges with wholly-owned subsidiary IID. The name is changed to IID Incorporated.
